the software does not read out the toc.ncx file if it is encoded as utf-8 with bom (byte order mark). Would you please fix it in one of your next releases.

Bugs in 5.0.2.2
File Manager
- If a book or series of books is renamed, the move tab is not updated with the new source filename. You have to close the popup and relaunch file manager to move the books with the proper names.
- When renaming books, if you hit start twice accidentally, it will delete the book files.
File Parser
- If retrieving ISBN information from file content has more than one ISBN-13 and the selected or SET ISBN is not the first one in the list, when you highlight and hit the start button it will revert back to the first in the list.
There are several other bugs that I've run across when dealing with network drives. Too many to list. Apparently this was never tested.
First attempts at the new web server feature was a terrible disaster and I just chalked it up being untested like everything else.
This update should be considered pre-alpha with the amount of bugs I've uncovered. It's a shame I actually had to pay for an upgrade to this garbage.

Bugs in 5.0.4.2
Hi,
Book details after a batch web update are not saved. These appear transiently after clicking "Close" and then disappear again after clicking on any one the books.

Database corrupt after version 5 upgrade
After instgalling the version 5 update, my database won't open.
I’ve downloaded the latest fix to version 5 and still cannot open my database file. If I send you the file can you fix it?
The error message begins with:
System.Data.Entity.Core.EntityCommandExecution
This form won't accept a screen capture, but I've sent one in an email to your support email.
Please help. I'm stuck.

Is there a way to do a multiple cover renaming, like in the file manager, without having to include the book file?

Bug found in 5.0.6.2 and some questions and improvement
I just start to use my Pro version. This is a great application and help me a lot to sort my books.

5) Some french translation are not correct. How to submit it correction?
6) I use a portable computer and my books database is on a network drive (NAS). When my computer go to deep sleep and Alfa Ebooks Manager is running, when I power it up, the program does not work correctly and report me some error (can't add or display a Card). Maybe the database is closed when I power off my computer but not reopen after.

Upgrade to last version and preferences
I just upgrade to the last version (from 5.0.6.2 to 5.0.7.2).
The database is loading correctly but all the preferences are not kept (windows size, column displayed, rename option, search option, ...)

Unable to import Calibre library (Alfa Ebooks manager 5.0.8.2) - metadata.opf
Hi
I have a huge Calibre library. I tryed to import it using the instructions posted in support section.
I select "Use OPF files". When books are imported I find that Alfa Ebooks has not imported title, autors, notes etc.
I tryed also unselecting "USE OPF FILES" with parse metadata options. But in this case titles and authors are taken from file names.
Any cue??

Unable to start Alfa eBooks Manager 5.0.8.1 - Unknown Application Error
I purchased and installed today Alfa eBooks Manager 5.0.8.1, and when I try to run it, the splash screen comes up, and after 10-15 seconds I get a very long screen titled "Unknown Application Error", and the splash screen stays frozen.
So far, I have not been able to run the program at all.
I have a Dell computer running XP-SP3, with .net framework 4.0, I reinstalled net 4.0 as was suggested to someone on the forum, to no avail.

Support not responding, unable to use my purchased update, paid money for nothing as it seems
Hi together,
just have to say basically I like this software, so I purchased the professional version in August last year, where it's still been in its version 4. Got the update notification and paid for it. Also got the download link and installed the software. Unfortunately some days after that I had to reinstall my Windows and accidentially forgot to backup my purchased update.
Just remembered the email with the link to the update, thought: just download it again. Link wasn't working anymore, so I wrote to support to provide my licensed update again so I would be able to install and use it. Guess what: no answers to my mails, first sent last Saturday, a reminder on Wednesday. No response, nothing... Is there any support anyways, I mean not only a purchase-responding bot at your end?
Effectively now I paid for nothing, unable to install and use my update...
I can't wait for obviously dead support, so I will go back to calibre. No more recommendations for Alfa from my part, this is unprofessional deluxe!
By the way, if Alfa support needs some ideas for improvement: provide a login area for existing customers, in-application-update check and notification. It's ridiculous to ask customers to contact their dead email support to get provided even with new minor updates, we are in the year 2014, not in the 80's!
Also this forum functionality is just a bad joke, created my account and have been asked to edit my password. Just one small detail missing in the browser: YOU WOULD NEED TO PROVIDE A PASSWORD FORM, not just a single submit button in the edit tab of the profile with no possibility to change anything after the one-time-login (!) got emailed.
Sorry, for this long post, but I'm really disappointed by such gotchas and circumstances.
Hopefully your other PAYING customers have a better experience with your software and obviously non-existing support, I will trash my license and return to Calibre.
60€ in total for nothing, that's great!

Alfa Ebook Manager Question
New user and new to Alfa, I was looking at the Calibre but a big turn off was that I couldn't get Calibre to automatically add books. This lead me to this site. I have a few questions:
1. Does Alfa Ebook manager allow me to backup to an external drive or server?
2. I would be using Alfa on two Vista computers to manage my Kindle Fires. Does this cause any problems?
3. I am confused on the versions. There is Premium and Professional. Why does Professional have more features than Premium?
4. Does Alfa allow me to convert EPUB or MOBI or AZW to other formats?
This is what I am looking to do with Alfa Ebook manager. Obviously, I want to install it on 2 computers. One computer will hold ALL of the books of various formats. The second computer will be used to sync my Kindle Fire and add books to it.
